I Heart Gen Art 15th Anniversary Benefit @ 7W 6.24.09 : More than 70 emerging artists participated in Gen Art's 15th Anniversary "I Heart Gen Art Benefit" at the sprawling 25,000 sq ft 7W venue. The artists, many alumni of Gen Art's visual arts program donated their works to Gen Art to sell off and utilize the proceeds to raise funds for the organization.

6th Annual Wayúu Tayá Foundation Fundraising Gala @ the Stephen Weiss Studio 6.17.09 : The Wayúu Tayá Foundation is a nonprofit organization created in 2002 by Patricia Velasquez to help improve the lives of Latin-American indigenous people while maintaining and respecting their traditions, culture and beliefs. The Wayúu children were the focus of this year's Gala, which was co-hosted by legendary fashion icon Donna Karan and television personality Padma Lakshmi. This year, four humanitarians were honored for their outstanding charitable work, including supermodel Christie Brinkley. She was introduced on stage by her singer songwriter daughter Alexa Ray Joel, who then played out the evening with some of her excellent music.
